Many congratulations on your engagement! We are delighted that you are thinking about getting married at St Mary’s. For further information, please contact the Church Office, or download our information booklet here. If you are thinking generally about getting married in a church, but are not sure what’s involved then you may find the Church of England wedding website useful as well. But do please contact us with any immediate queries you may have.
You may already have a date in mind for your wedding, and we are aware that reception venues get booked up very quickly! If St Mary’s is free on your chosen date we can reserve that date for you, but you will need to talk or meet with Valentine, our vicar, before we can go ahead and confirm it, so please do contact us as soon as possible if that is the case.
The birth of a child is a time for celebration and many people want to mark the occasion by giving thanks in some way. Some may wish to do this by having their child christened in church, whether or not they are regular churchgoers themselves. Others may not feel ready to make the promises and the commitment to the Christian church that a christening involves, and so a service of thanksgiving may be more suitable for them. Whichever you choose, we would love to help you. Please do contact us at the Church Office to talk to us about your options.
Our christening and thanksgiving services normally take place on the first Sunday of each month, at the Family Service (9.30 am at St Mary’s or 10.30 am at the Church Centre). In order to keep the service simple and special we try to keep to no more than two children (or families if you have more than one child) at each service. So if you have a date in mind do contact us as soon as possible to make sure we can book you in for the date you want.
Christenings and Thanksgivings
If you are arranging a funeral you have our deepest condolences. Please do contact us at the Church Office if you would like a service to be held at St Mary’s, or if you would like one of our ministers to conduct a crematorium service. Alternatively you may prefer to have your funeral director make the arrangements with us on your behalf.
